Hello my friend! β I got back in the studio with fresh new.. well, everything! β I got my new studio fully operational, and just in the right time: Guitar making company Donner reached out to me the other day and asked me to test out their new guitar, the HUSH I PRO Hawaiian Blue - a beauty! The model is still not even released to the public (it will be on November 20th) but I got my hands on it, it was shipped all the way from China ahead of their official release. Their new HUSH line comes redesigned, in three new colors and with a few upgrades. It's not a paid review, just a free guitar for me, and all they asked was "do it in your own musical style" π Well, who would I be if I didn't turn it into a real treat for you - a NEW guitar lesson! Here's the link to the video: β βWatch New Video Hereβ β I covered the magnificent "CARAVAN" - an American jazz standard from 1936 by Juan Tizol and Duke Ellington. Of course, it's completely flavored and arranged in my style, an interactive fretboard is added for your learning convenience, and the scale is the hypnotic Harmonic Minor. The melody is quite simple to learn, with most of the long sustaining notes, so once mastered, it shouldn't be too hard to play outside the melodic boundary. Stay within the scale and I guarantee you'll have a lot of fun, I definitely did. β It's a short lesson, covering the main melody and the progression, the live fretboard starts after the first 30 seconds, while I recorded a two-chord loop for this classic tune, but honestly - try improvising with just one chord in the background (C7 or just C major), it will work like a charm. The simpler, the better! β P.S. I also filmed the unboxing and a deeper look into the effects of the Hawaiian Blue for my future video, I will post it once the material is edited. It will be packed with unique melodies so stay tuned to hear more. β So nice to be back in the studio, talk soon! β Vedran WhatTheChord.com β β β |

Hi Reader! A brand-new guitar arrived the other day in the studio β the Donner HUSH-I Pro (Hawaiian Blue edition) β and today I posted a full unboxing + sound test on YouTube. I was honestly surprised by how good this thing looks in person, and the plugged-in tone is better than I expected for a travel/silent guitar. If youβre curious what comes in the box and how it sounds straight out of the package, check it out here: π Watch the video In the video I go through: π unboxing π§ quality +...
How did the modes got their names? This short animated video reveals the ancient origins of the modal scale names - who named them and how they evolved through time. Today's modes are nothing like the original ones (which were more theoretical and tuning-focused), but medieval church scholars kept the same names because... well, they sounded cool? More likely, they simply lacked alternatives. By then, the original Greek modal frameworks had fallen out of common use - so they were "free to...
